Elisabet Mas de les Valls
Elisabet Mas de les Valls Ortiz holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She is a tenure-track lecturer at UPC’s Heat Engines Department and currently teaches at Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Master’s degree in Energy Engineering and Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology Engineering at UPC.
The bulk of her research is focused on the numerical simulation of fusion components, mainly breeding blankets. In this field, she has participated in Euratom and National projects. From 2017 she started her contributions in gender research, focused on gender dimension in teaching and research. From 2017 to 2022, she has combined her teaching and research tasks at UPC with the teaching at Baccaulareate level. She has been focused on guiding teachers in the introduction of gender dimension in teaching through the co-coordination of a pilot project Gènere i Docència (2018-2019) and through seminars and trainings at different National and International universities. She is a co-author of the guide Guides to mainstreaming gender in university teaching. Industrial Engineering (2020), edited by Xarxa Vives. She is a member of the team that received the first award Menció M. Encarna Sanahuja YII a l’excel·lència en la inclusió de la perspectiva de gènere en la pràctica docent universitària, given by the Government of Catalonia, in 2021. At present, she is a member of the Equality Unit at the UPC.
