Noelia Olmedo
received the degree in telecommunications engineering and the Ph.D. degree in multimedia engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), in 1991 and 2007, respectively.
She is the director of the Department of Graphic and Design Engineering and professor since 1999 of Escola d’Enginyeria de Barcelona Est (EEBE, UPC).
Her research area includes social aspects of engineering education, promoting STEM vocation among the young, especially among girls; the education of primary and secondary school teachers; promoting computational thinking at pre-university levels; and social justice, equity, diversity and transparency (the gender perspective, the needs of the most vulnerable, strategies against corruption, etc.). She is also interested in innovation in higher education, professional competencies, assessment tools, the promotion of teaching and learning improvement and, in general, educational innovation that contributes to teaching quality.
